Trap for the capture of Thaumetopoea pityiocampa and other forest moths
CHARACTERISTICS
Funnel trap suitable for capturing adult males of Thaumetopoea pityocampa, pine processionary moth. It is also suitable for the capture of other lepidopterans, such as Phtorimaea operculella and food moths. It can be used for monitoring and mass trapping. Pheromone replacements and capture device components are available.
FIELDS OF APPLICATION
Monitoring and capture of adult males of Thaumetopoea pityocampa, Phtorimaea operculella and food moths. For the latter, a trap will be necessary every 250 m² in warehouses, positioned at a height of 1.5 m from the pile of foodstuffs.
To capture Thaumetopoea pityiocampa, the trap must be installed in the second half of May, high up and within the vegetation: at least 10-12 traps per hectare or one every 80-100 meters across the entire perimeter of the forest are needed. In avenues, they should be positioned at a distance of 80-100 meters from each other. The pheromones remain active for 5-6 weeks. Check the trap periodically to record catches and keep it clean.
